IMPLEMENTERS Partners Ostende-Banjul on Sustainable City Development Project

What began as a simple discussion has resulted in the establishment of a state-of-the-art 20-seater ICT facility in Crab Island, Banjul, The Gambia. Through collaborative engagements with the Banjul City Council (BCC) and Oostende City Council in Belgium, with funding from the European Union, IMPLEMENTERS (IMP) is proud to have completed this transformative project.
In addition to completing the ICT lab, IMP provided comprehensive training for facility managers and STEAM educators from neighbouring schools who will be utilizing the facility.
The primary objective of this initiative is to offer students and teachers enhanced opportunities to expand their STEAM education and skills through hands-on learning experiences. By fostering an inclusive and advanced learning environment, the project aims to enhance ICT competencies, equipping students with the essential skills required for higher education and the job market.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with IMP’s vision of creating an Africa of equitable social opportunities for individuals and communities By implementing this project, IMP contributes to its long-term goal of fostering an equitable society.
The project addressed critical gaps identified during a needs assessment, particularly the lack of access to modern technology. With the establishment of this ICT lab, IMP anticipates a significant positive impact on students’ academic performance and an enriched teaching and learning environment, further enhanced by the introduction of the ASANKA device.
This success underscores the importance of effective collaboration among key stakeholders and partners, which was instrumental in the project’s realization. IMP remains committed to driving sustainable development through innovative, high-impact projects that empower communities and enhance educational opportunities. The successful completion of this initiative is yet another step toward achieving that mission.
