The Sophomore Edition of Annual Impact Roundtable Discussion and Robotics Competition

he Yamoransa Model (YM) Labs Program, funded by the Helping Africa Foundation (HAF), is hosting its second Annual Impact Roundtable Discussion (AIRTAD ’23) and Robotics Competition from February 20th – 21st, 2023, at the Accra Digital Center.

The theme for this year’s AIRTAD and Robotics competition is “The YM Labs Program – Building an Inclusive & Sustainable STEAM Education for the Future.”

The Yamoransa Model Labs Program in the last six years has provided students in both primary, junior and secondary levels of education with a platform that sharpens their skills and provides practical knowledge in STEAM.

AIRTAD ’23 is a platform to share with the world the tremendous work the Helping Africa Foundation has done with the Yamoransa Model Labs Program in the last six years towards the attainment of their vision of impacting lives through STEAM education. Also, the robotics competition associated with AIRTAD is an avenue for beneficiaries of the YM Labs to share with the public the practical skills they have acquired from the past years of using the labs.

Beyond telling the stories of the Yamoransa Model Labs and the enormous success attained in the last six years, AIRTAD is providing a platform for Non-Governmental Organizations, Government Organizations, Corporate Bodies, and other agencies with a shared interest in promoting STEAM education in Ghana to also share with the world, their contribution in the STEAM agenda of Ghana.

ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE

The two-day event happening at the Accra Digital Center will commence on Monday February 20, 2023 from 9 am-4 pm. 

The event will begin with a Robotics Exhibition showcasing the works of the students. 

Later, three different panels will discuss the YM Labs and various issues on STEAM education in Africa. 

Panel 1: The Yamoransa Model Lab Program – Contributing to STEAM Education in West Africa

Panel 2: The Role of STEAM Education in the Attainment the SDGs

Panel 3: Promoting STEAM Education through Innovation

On the second day, Tuesday February 21, 2023, starting from 9 am-4 pm, there will be a Robotics Competition amongst the 14 labs of the Yamoransa Model labs Program from Ghana and Banjul, Gambia. 

To crown the two-day event, there will be Lightning Talks from executives from University of Ghana, UC Denver, USA; Ashesi University, Ghana; and MaCaulay Honors College, USA.
