Strengthening Ghana’s Climate Resilience through Stakeholder Collaboration

In collaboration with Swisscontact Ghana, IMPLEMENTERS organized another eventful stakeholder engagement on the Implementers Strategic Sector Research (ISSR) on Climate change. In attendance were key stakeholders coming from diverse industries such as academia, communications, renewable energy, research, governance, and women and youth-led organizations. The purpose of this gathering was to foster dialogue, share knowledge, and align collective efforts toward accelerating climate action in Ghana.

The session was held in 3 parts:

  1. Participants shared knowledge on the subject from the industries they represented.
  2. Participants took a survey on key issues in climate.
  3. Discussions of survey results and development of workable solutions.

The objectives of the session were centered on: Mapping key stakeholders and initiatives in Ghana’s climate change sector, Identifying sectoral gaps, needs, and emerging opportunities, Understanding funder priorities and climate finance trends, and Exploring data access strategies, innovation potential, and collaboration pathways.

Participants were engaged in a survey aimed at gathering their views on climate risks, funding, innovation, and collaboration. Responses were prompt and structured discussions to uncover root causes of climate vulnerabilities and co-identify opportunities for solutions and impact. The thematic areas underlined were:

  • Sectoral Vulnerability and Opportunity
  • Climate Financing
  • Technology, Innovation, and Data Availability
  • Partnerships and Collaborations
  • Funding Trends

The discussions were both insightful and solutions-driven, with participants sharing innovative strategies for building climate-resilient systems and reducing environmental harm at local and national levels.

A key highlight of the session was a clear enthusiasm and mutual commitment among stakeholders to create an ecosystem that supports long-term, inclusive climate action. Participants embodied and emphasised collaboration as a cornerstone for progress, reinforcing that no single actor can address the climate crisis alone.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Maxwell Beganim, the lead consultant, for expertly facilitating the session, and to Rajiv Pradhan, Country Director of Swisscontact Ghana, for generously hosting us.

As we reflect on the progress made through such engagements, we look forward to continuing the momentum at our upcoming Climate Forward Summit, scheduled for next Thursday. We invite all interested participants to register and be part of Ghana’s growing climate action movement.

We are positive about the future of climate change in Ghana and, together with all stakeholders and partners,  move forward in ensuring a more sustainable future.
